Contoocook, NH — William A Stickney, 85, of Contoocook, N.H., passed away on July 27, 2022, peacefully in his sleep at his home. Bill was born on September 9, 1936, in Concord, N.H. to Arthur F and Ursula (Wright) Stickney. Bill graduated Concord High School in 1954. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957. After Bill saw the world, he returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Marcia Norris from Concord. They had three children, Michael, Andrew, and Barbara. Bill was an active Mason in the Horace Chase Lodge. He was a lifelong musician and played a real mean trombone! Bill was also a lifelong gardener, spending many hours growing flowers and vegetables. Above all, he was known for his sense of humor, which carried him until the day he passed. Bill married his second wife, Trudy Gielar in 1976, and enjoyed 44 years being together and laughing until her death in 2020. Bill retired from Public Service Company of N.H. after 20 years, and St Paul's School after an additional 20 years of work. Bill leaves behind his three children, Michael, Andrew, and Barbara, as well as his two step children, Nancy (Gielar) Eaton, John Gielar and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his two loving sisters, Mary DeAngelis and Lois Magenau. William will be interred at the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H. Services will be held at a later date.6

Birth*Frank Wilbur Atkins Mitchell was born on 5 May 1896 in Saugus, Essex County, MassachusettsG.1
Marriage*He married Edith May Lister, daughter of Allen C. Lister and Elizabeth J. Mitchell, on 7 November 1917 at the bride's parents' home, 93 Newhall Street in Lynn, Essex County, MassachusettsG.2,3
Death*Frank Wilbur Atkins Mitchell died on 22 January 1964.4
Burial*He was buried in Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan, Grafton County, New HampshireG.5
When Frank filled out his World War I draft registration card in Jun 1917 he was a physician living at 125 Chatham Street in Lynn, Mass. He was single at the time and described as being of medium height and build with grey eyes and brown hair.

At the time of their marriage Frank was living at 111 Essex Street in Lynn and Edith was at 93 Newhall Street, also in Lynn. He was a physician and she was a nurse.

When their son Alan was born in Dec 1918 Frank was a physician and they were living at 93 Newhall Street in Lynn.

The Jan 1920 census recorded that they were renting at 111 Essex Street in Lynn in the same house as Frank and May Merrill. Frank's occupation was physician/surgeon. But the birth records of their twin daughters from Sep 1920 give the same 93 Newhall Street address they were in two years before.

When their daughter Dorothy was born in Jan 1923 they were living at 757 Boston Street in Lynn. Frank was the attending physican for the birth with an office at 164 Essex Street in Lynn.

When their daughter Bernice was born in Aug 1925 they were living at 14 Kensington Park in Lynn and Frank was still a physician.

By Apr 1930 when that year's census was taken the family was living in Grafton, N.H. Their 11-year-old son Allan was living at their old Newhall Street address in Lynn with his maternal grandparents, who themselves were boarding there with a Salls family, relationship, if any, unknown.

In 1940 the family lived on East Grafton Road in Grafton, renting in the same they were in five years earlier. Frank and Edith were still living in Grafton when their son Allan married in Apr 1941.

His parents were living 343 Eastern Avenue in Lynn, Essex County, MassachusettsG, when he was born.
Their marriage announcement appeared in the 8 November 1917 Daily Item of Lynn, Massachusetts and read as follows: Lynn Girl Weds Army Lieutenant. A military wedding took place at 1 PM Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan C. Lister, 93 Newhall street, when their daughter, Miss Edith May Lister, was united in marriage to First Lieut. Frank Mitchell of Lynn and of the Medical Reserve corps, U. S. A. Rev. Thomas Cain of the Essex Street Baptist church performed the ceremony. The bridesmaid was Miss Pauline Childs of Fitchburg and the best man was Albert F. Fopiano of Cambridge. The bride was gowned in a purple traveling suit while the groom wore his uniform. The wedding march was played by an aunt of the groom, Mrs. Annie Owens of Weymouth. The bride is a graduate of the Lynnholm school and also had two years’ training at the Massachusetts Homeopathic hospital at Boston. The romance started at the Haynes’ Memorial hospital at Brighton where Lieut. Mitchell was practicing and Miss Lister was training. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Scott and Miss Bessie Scott of Chelsea, Miss Alice Mitchell of Lowell, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Mitchell of Lynn, Mrs. Martha Atkins of Lynn and Mrs. Annie Owens of Weymouth. After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served. The decorations were beautiful, chrysanthemums predominating. During the ceremony the bride carried a beautiful bouquet of roses. Many gifts were received, including a handsome one from the Cupid club of Lynn, of which the bride is a prominent member. The groom was appointed a lieutenant in the Medical Reserve corps last August and expect to be called for active duty at an army cantonment in Georgia the first of December. Telegraphic communications were received by Lieutenant and Mrs. Mitchell from the father and sister of Lieut. Mitchell from Chicago. At the close of the wedding dinner Lieutenant and Mrs. Mitchell left for New York, but were outfitted by their friends who headed them off in Boston and showered them with rice at the depot from which they left, much to their surprise.3
From the 30 July 1919 Daily Item of Lynn, Massachusetts: LT. MITCHELL BACK FROM FRANCE. Mrs. Frank A. Mitchell, wife of Lt. Frank Mitchell of 93 Newhall street, received a telegram from her husband today stating that he had landed at Hoboken, N. J., and expected to arrive in Lynn in a few days. First Lieutenant Mitchell of the medical corps is a well known Lynn physician and prior to his marriage to Miss Edith Lister, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan C. Lister, of 93 Newhall street, he resided on Chatham street. Eighteen months ago Lt. Mitchell accepted a commission in the medical corps and was ordered for active duty at Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. Mrs. Mitchell accompanied the lieutenant to Georgia until he was ordered to France and he then returned to her home in Lynn. For the past four months Lt. Mitchell has been studying medicine at a University in London and was selected for this work by the chief Surgeon, A. E. F. He has quite an army career and has seen active service. Lt. Mitchell while training at the Homeopathic hospital in Brookline made the acquaintance of Miss Lister, who was a student nurse at that institution. After several months the couple were married in this city. Lieut Mitchell, while in France, became the daddy of a baby boy, Allen L. Mitchell.6
