| When the 1900 census was taken Gertrude and Edward and their two sons were living in Campbell Township, Missouri. Edward was employed as a 'Pressman' and the census states that he was born in England and emigrated in 1882, and was now a naturalized citizen. |

PICKERING--Gertrude R. Pickering, 79, passed away Nov. 5, 1947, at Santa Ana, Cal. Widow of Edward Pickering, she is survived by two sons, H. E. Pickering of Palo Verdes Estate, and R. B. Pickering of Napa; a grandson and granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and First Congregational Church, Santa Ana, and Silver Spray Chapter, O. E. S. of Napa. Services Friday at 2 p. m. at the Winbigler Memorial Chapel, 609 North Main Street, Santa Ana. Interment, Fairhaven Cemetery, Santa Ana.4 |
Citations
- Most census records state that she was born in Maine with the exception of 1870 and 1940, which say Mass. The abstract record for her death gives a birth date of 30 Oct 1868, but this was a few months before her parents' marriage. The 1900 census says she was born in Oct 1869, which is more likely. The 1870 census taken in June says she was 6 months old and born the previous November. Her parents were born from Gardiner, Maine at the time of their marriage so if she was born in Maine it might have taken place there.

STANLEY, Christine W. 7055 W. Stanley Rd., age 65, died Tuesday, August 17, 1971 at Krull Nursing Home. A memorial service for Mrs. Stanley will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 1971 at Rossell Funeral Home, Rev. John Teeuwissen officiating. Cremation at Flint Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Stanley was born in Portland, Michigan, January 19, 1906, the daughter of Lorenzo and Dora Webber. Surviving are: Husband, Robert H., Sr. of Lexington, Virginia; son, Robert H., Jr. of Flushing; 2 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Molly) Tate of Midland and Mrs. John (Betsy) Teeuwissen of Flint; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Miss Charlotte Webber of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Constance West of Portland, Michigan.
